Join the Celebrations of Colors Along with the blossoms, the city and county governments as well as the leisure farms organize relevant events such as the grand Calla Lily Season, Day Lily Season, and so on. The five farmers’ associations of“The 5 Star Rice Neighborhood in Huanlien and Taitung”covering Fuli Township, Chishang Township, Guishan Township, Chenggong Township, and Taitung County Farmers’ Association are grouped at the center to connect Provincial Highways numbered 9 and 11 in Hualien and Taitung, an area over 66 hectares, with events such as rice straw arts, edible landscape, winter themes on canvas as well as the landscape of fallow fields with floral seas.
Hosted and organized by Yuemei Leisure Farm Development Association in Daxi District, Taoyuan City. The grand activities are held in Changzhi Town in Pingtung County during lunar new year and different themes feature color painting of rice fields, spring- greeting floral sea, the corridor of fruits and landscape arts every year, and some 20 specialty areas present the diverse and rich indigenous and Hakka cultures together with the agriculture, fishing, forestry and leisure farm industries in Pingtung.
Dabeikeng in Longtang District, Taoyuan City pioneers in growing lupin so it is also called the home to lupin. Every March, lupin blossoms widely spread over the mountains and there are music festivals and installation art of lupin to enjoy as well. Dabeikeng Leisure Farm Area hosts many agricultural activities so that visitors can get a first hand experience of the Hakka hospitality asides flower watching.
Mt. Yangming in Taipei City has rich ecological resources, history and culture that draw millions of fans for a floral pilgrimage every year. Taiwan International Orchid Show has become the most important international orchid event and the value of export orders received during the show exceeds NT$1 billion dollars all the time. The show integrates orchids, arts and cultures aiming to improve our life aesthetics; meanwhile, Taiwan is marketed for international tourism and introduced to the international communities as“ the Orchid Kingdom”.
Every September is the harvest season for pomelos, and the pomelo trees bloom and fill the whole garden with white flowers in March. Madou in Tainan and Xihu in Miaoli are two important production areas, both have organized Pomelo Flower Art Festival to welcome visitors to the small towns emanating floral aroma where they can enjoy flower watching and tea tasting as well as experience various floral agriculture activities featured with pomelo flowers.
Mt. Ali is noted for cherry blossoms. Visitors go to the mountain to watch the cherries Somei-Yoshinu cherries or enjoy the views with clouds, tea gardens, Chinese firs, bamboos and cherries in Dingshizhao trail in Zhuqi Township in the neighborhood. Calla Lily Festival in Zhuzihu is a must check-in event for residents in Taipei. The annual production of white calla lily here accounts for 80~90% of the total production in Taiwan. The romantic atmosphere February to May when the flowers blossom draws lots of local and international visitors to Zhuzhihu to watch and harvest the calla lilies in the field, or taste local cuisines.
Tung Blossom of Hakka Festival is Everywhere in the Hakka Communities. When the floral season arrives, the white flowers all over the mountains and the fallen flowers on the trails are the most common scenery in mid May. Coming to the Hakka communities during this time of the year, visitors will experience the traditional culture of the Hakka people in a variety of Tung Blossom themed activities. Taoyuan City Government held the first colorful Calla Lily Season in 2017, and the colorful calla lilies produced January to April are the main theme. Together are the featured floral sea, art events and shows, flower decoration, floral field competition and the marketplace. Recently, the featured installation designs and cross-industry cooperation with wedding gown business are introduced to make it a unique and special event.
After Taoyuan City Government and Daguhua Leaisure Farm Area Development Association have successfully restored 80,000 wild lilies, theme events are held regularly. People will experience local farming life on different farms, handmade activities, tree climbing and many others hosted by every community development association in addition to hiking in beautiful Mt. Dagu.
Hydrangea Season comes after the Calla Lily Season to continue the romantic views in the mountain areas. Hydrangea Season consists of many floral fields, trails and installation arts. When it’s the floral season, the bountiful colors can be found immediately on social media. It has been a popular touristic spot in Greater Taipei and a venue for wedding photo shooting.
Baihe District in Tainan City is noted as “The Home to Lotus”. Lotus blossoms in spring, summer and fall. The most enchanting moment by the lotus ponds is 5 am to 7 am, the crystal dews falling down the leaves so that we can sense its beauty of staying clean and clear though growing the muds. We recommend a 2-day-1-night trip to watch the lotus and enjoy the scenery of Baihe, Tainan in mid summer.
The well known scenic spots to see lotus are Baihe in the south and Guanyin in the north during the lotus season. Mudan town is located in Pingtung peninsula by mountains and oceans; therefore, it has a reputation as the “Back Garden of Hengchun Peninsula”. “Butterfly Lily Season”hosted by Mudan Township Office first dated in 2011, activities organized together with local partners in Dongyuan tribe are to present the landscape in Mudan Township and give visitors a chance to experience indigenous peoples’ cultures. It is turned into a unique event in the floral season.
The biggest floral festival in eastern Taiwan every year is in Mt. Liushidan, Fuli of fHualien and Mt. Chike, Yuli. The view of yellow day lilies all over the mountains, with either sunshines or clouds and mists, is so beautiful that makes people feel as if in a best kept secret.
