With the active promotion of the organizers and the cooperation of audiences from Taichung, Taiwan, and even those from around the world, the Taichung Jazz Festival has become a major annual large-scale artistic event and indicator of artistic spirit for the city. This precious asset, Taichung’s virtual “cultural 101,” has come to top the list in events celebrating the Taiwan Jazz Festival and a benchmark for this national jazz celebration. After years of effort, the Taichung Jazz Festival now ranks as one of the major four Asian jazz festivals, joining Tokyo, Bangkok, and Seoul. The Taichung Jazz Festival began in 2003 and is an annual international jazz festival that takes place every October appealing to jazz masters from all over the world to take part in a transnational exchange and play with groups from around the world, sparing no effort to create a milestone for Asian Festival culture and making Taichung the jazz capital of Asia.
