Mountain Village Farming & Eco Hiking
If you're drawn to quiet, wooded places, head to the Maling Leisure Agriculture Area in the more mountainous Qidu and Nuannuan districts. The area preserves its rustic rural charm and lush forest landscapes, and features unique pothole rock formations, making it ideal for short hikes. Moreover, the region is also home to many leisure farms offering hands-on farming experiences. From June to October, visitors can harvest bamboo shoots, while from around October through January, you can dig for Keelung’s native mountain yams. Though smaller in size, these yams are prized for their smooth, delicate texture if you are seeking to sample something new.
