Q: Huixiang Station’s featured idea is “organic, life and diet”, why do you have such kind of idea?
A: Earth should be the home to human beings and all creatures. Every individual has the responsibility to protect our homeland, learn the bio-diversified operation from the nature and resolve the conflicts between industrial development and ecological destruction. Therefore, we should abide by the low-carbon, friendly, safe and eco-friendly principles to improve our lifestyles.
Q: Please recommend the experiential agriculture activities in Huixiang Station to readers.
A: Take Organic Tofu DIY for example, we use organic soy beans, blend the washed and soaked soy bean with water in the blender, filter out the bean dregs, then pour the milk into the pot, stir it during cooking to avoid singe. In the cooking process, there will be plenty of bubbles, and the common practice is use de-foamer but to make it natural, we spray water instead to rapidly lower down its temperature. When the temperature is down to 74℃, bittern is added to coagulate. Lastly put the curd into the mould and press out excess water then we have the organic tofu!
Q: As Taiwan’s first “Museum of Organic Six-Level Industries”, what does Huixiang Station expect in the future?
A: We don’t think villages are outdated but can keep up with the times. Young people can see opportunities here. We expect to have more young people return and contribute what they’ve learned to recreational agriculture and make the villages more advanced. Finally the power can be brought back to the cities to form a virtuous circle in our society.
