Many places in Taiwan are home to rice, the organic rice production area in Fuli Township, Hualien won Japanese certification. This time in Fuli we don’t eat rice but try another flavor, DIY pop rice, a delicious taste of nostalgic. The organic rice is the material making pop rice; the quality of pop rice here is guaranteed.

The tip of popping rice is “fast, sharp and precise.” The first step is cooking the corn syrup. The timing of turning off the heat is crucial, when corn syrup can turn into a cluster in the water, adding the popped rice to mix with and turn everything evenly. Here they putting some local produced dried plums to enhance flavor.
“Be quick turning and mixing”, if too slow, it won’t be pressed to shape and the harden maltose will turn it into a watermelon like pop rice. While the pop rice is not formed yet, pour it into the mold and press it quickly with a rolling pin, once it is firmly pressed, just slice it and it’s ready to serve!
Timing is the biggest challenge, any hesitation may fail the work. Hence, while making the pop rice, a group of people got hurry scurry, together with their anticipation and excitement, it was much fun! This activity is for both adults and children, who can enjoy the parent-and-child time, as well as savor the pop rice.
