Introduction
Lotus and water lily are actually one and the same. The term lotus refers to this large aquatic plant’s pod and seeds, and water lily its flower and leaves. The underground rhizomes grow and form intact sections. Leaves may protrude above water surface and could reach 1-2 m in length. The entire plant is edible.
