Introduction
Tung tree is widely planted throughout Taiwan. Although blooming three times a year, Tung is at its finest early summer as its snow-white flowers blanket hilltops, frequently called May Snow. Tung is the prized economic crop of the Hakkanese and its symbol of culture. Miaoli, the stronghold of Hakkanese, is famous for Tung flowers trips and massive Tung appreciation activities.
