Located in Hudong Leisure Farm Area, Xihu, Miaoli, a Tian MaMa restaurant named “Secret Garden”, which is surprisingly a garden restaurant in a tranquil environment rather than a noisy neighborhood. Driving through a stretch of mountain road, we saw a vast turf, together with the sunshine and the cool breeze, how relaxing!

The owner is a horticulture expert and applied his years of experiences in building the secret garden. We saw a couple of flowers in full bloom in the two lotus gardens. All kinds of plants are well taken care of, which shows the owner’s dexterity and attentiveness.

The hostess of Secret Garden applies her ingenuity to each tasty dish, such as drumsticks seasoned with rosemary. She uses the home grown herbs in the dish so that delicate chicken texture carries the herbal fragrance. She prepares the appetizers in the restaurant herself. This pear and olive dish is filled with a tab of fruit fragrance and tastes crunchy and refreshing.

Every year when lotus blossoms, the restaurant serves Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaves which emanates the fragrance of the lotus leaves. There are peanuts, lotus seeds and mushrooms in the rice; these ingredients are similar to those for the rice dumplings, but the tastes are different because the flavor is enhanced by the sesames.
