May to November is the season of bitter gourds which are the best food materials for summer, rich in nutrients, vitamin C and various minerals, great for our health!
The bitter taste comes from its seeds. Remove all the seeds to rid the bitterness . If served as a cold dish, cool the bitter gourds after they are boiled can also reduce the bitter taste, even children will enjoy it!

[Seasonal Recipe] Traditional Flavored Stuffed Bitter Gourd

Ingredients:
1 bitter gourd (large)
300g minced pork
20g minced garlic
20g minced ginger
20g minced carrot
3 mushrooms
1 egg
3 teaspoons soy sauce
Appropriate Amount of white pepper
Starch
Shallots, sliced into rounds
Directions:
1. Wash the bitter gourd, seeded (to rid its bitter taste), slice into rounds in 2cm thick
2. Mix minced ginger, garlic, carrots, mushroom with minced meat, the egg and condiment, pulse the fillings to consistency
3. Paste corn starch (so the fillings get firm) onto the inner circle of bitter gourd, put the fillings inside and press it
4. steam over high heat in the bamboo steamer for 8 minutes, top the round shallots and it’s ready to serve.
